Re: need help quick with lg header issue (RyneZ06)
i wouldn't.when i did mine, the dealer sent me the wrong gaskets,so i used the ones that came with the headers[i was in a pinch],i used locking header bolts and tightened them up evenly,so far so good,no leaks[2000 miles since install].
Re: need help quick with lg header issue (RyneZ06)
Depends on how many miles you have on the car. I would use the stock GM gaskets over the cheap Borla gaskets provided with the headers. I reused mine on my '04 with no problems. However, if you have several thousand miles on the vette, then you may want to purchase a new set of OEM gaskets.
I have installed many headers, the fiber gaskets are JUNK, get oem at the dealer ...I did and never had a problem on my ls1,,retighten them after a few heat cycles and youll be fine,,,dont be a gorrilla with the head bolts and use antiseize....
Re: need help quick with lg header issue (wrustywrench)
Lou recomends oem gaskets and the LS1s at that not the LS6 gaskets as the exhaust port is a diffenent shape and the LS1s fit the header better, the supplied gaskets are junk as stated earlier.
