I replaced factory adjustable shocks (wore out) with Bilstein Sports. Left the pigtail unpluged of course and now it's saying "shocks inoperative" and "max speed 80mph" And sure enough, 80 mph is max! Any advice?
It sounds like you had the F45 adjustable shocks from the factory? In that case, I think that you need to buy a little electronic part - a resistor or something - that will trick the computer into thinking your shocks are still there.
I don't know the details, hopefully somebody else will post them, but I believe that's what's going on.
I just did this on my 98 convert. I cut the pigtail at each F45 shock and wired in a 15 ohm/5amp resistor to represent the F45 shock. Works well and I'm very pleased with the ride.
you'll need connectors... i have 4 more left. PM if you're interested.
or, you can get someone with a Tech-II to turn off the adjustable system for you. They'd have to disconnect a module in the back of the car as well as disable the F-45 system.
