Would replaceing the intake on my 99 be worth the install? pro or con. and do you have to re-tune or not. like idle?? Thanks.
I think I can get it all done for less than $150.
I just replaced my original with the LS6 not too long ago on my 2000 Coupe. It cost me considerably more than 150 dollars, but I got the same parts that you mentioned. The directions say it can be done in 2.5 hours, but it's a much longer process depending upon your mechanical skills and tools. I had to throw the directions away since I didn't have some of the tools they mentioned like the "fuel line removal tool", and I basically just did my own thing to install it. But, in the end, I believe it was good decision to install the LS6 to compliment some other changes I made to my intake system. I do have a "kick" in the butt difference when I hit the gas, yet some of that probably has to do with the other mods as well. If you plan on upgrading any of the other components of your intake, such as throttle body, I would recommend waiting until you have all of those parts before starting since you have to tear all of that stuff off anyway to get to the manifold. In the end, any mod that will allow the LS1 to breathe better will increase it's performance. I know the LS6 manifold is rated at around a 14 hp gain, but I somehow doubt it will give you that much over what you currently have. I believe the 14 hp gain is something the manufacturer claims. Anyway, good Luck on your project!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that my Coupe ran just fine after I replaced the original manifold with the LS6. I haven't had the car retuned, and haven't noticed any problems. I do have a "check" engine light, now, but I think that is from another mod I made to the intake, and not from the manifold.

You know, you can buy this tool from Autozone for less than $5.00 and you don't have to worry about screwing up your fuel line.

If you can get LS6 intake for 150$ even used, do it!
It will take about 1 hr for the first time.
I have done couple times and time it to 30 minutes
Thanks guys for all your responses. It is a LS6. It is a friend of my son-inlaws and he changed his mind and is going s/c. on his 2000 and just wants to get rid of it. Thanks again for the input. This is a great forum.
