I had an AS&M harness bar in my '94 that I really liked as an appearance mod. It had two head rest hoops that were cool looking and easily seen outside the car.
Anything like that for the C5? ('04 Coupe). All of the C5 harness bars that I have seen are just one bar that runs horizontal.
You have to be kidding me if you liked the C4 bar from AS&M. It was a flimsy piece that would have folded up in a minor accident. From what I have seen most of the one piece bars are pretty good. I would lean toward Brey Krause, Hardbar, etc. After my discussions with AS&M on my C4 harness bar I would never buy one of their harness bars again. They had no idea what it would stand up to in an emergency. At least BK and Gary Hoffman (Hardbar) have looked into the forces at play and Gary unintentionally tested his design a couple of years ago so has some real world experience behind his design now.

I don't know about the forces and crash stuff, but it sounds like you are looking mostly for the looks. I believe MAD and/or Ecklers sells these or did at one time. Also, they were available in chrome or black. Chris

I used the AS&M Bar as purely a cosmetic mod. I even cut two of the mounting points off of it because they made the targa even harder to remove.
Had I been in an accident with harnesses on, the bar would have rotated and the head-rest loops would have hit me in the back of the head. I wasn't using it as a harness bar though.
I am using the Brey Krause harness bar and I like the way it looks. Might want to check into that one. Here is a picture of mine kinda hard to see from that picture though.
In addition to being the lightest and stiffest harness bar on the market, we also offer the famous HARDBAR, in a variety of finishes. The standard finish is powder coated balck, but we do offer the Hardbar in body colors as well and now, a carbon "look" finish shown below. Of course, we also offer a real carbon Hardbar that is only 3 pounds and was featured in "Grassroots Motorsports" last month on SCCA National Champion Danny Popp's ZO6 as well!

I'm going to be purchasing a harness bar for my car as well. I want one that is easy to install and remove as I only plan on having it in the car when I go racing. How is the hardbar for installation and removal?
What is the cost for the black powdercoated hardbar? Thanks!
