Default Doh! Broke a short shaft

Hello

Last night I took by Z06 out to Redline Raceway (1/8 mile) to get some practice runs in. It was hot and humid, which is bad for any good track times. First pass Chris (aka SPD DMN) and I went against each other. I couldn't figure out the line lock so I didn't do much of a burn out. I did manage to get a 1.90 60' and run a 7.90 @ 91 something I think, against Chris 8.3 @ (can't remember the mph). This was on Nitto DR's with 18 psi and a 3000 launch. It really showed a difference when I shift at 6700 rpm instead of 6100 like the last time Chris and I raced. I was actually pulling on him this time.

On the second pass Chris and I do it again. This time I was calm and did
a great burn out (John Force would be proud). I launched at 3500 this time and BOOM! nothing, :mad . car didn't move. Had to go get the trailer and tow the car to LG's lucky for me they were there working on the race cars. (Thanks Lou). Dropped the car off at 11:00 pm last night with the help of a few XTREME members Ben (new member) and Steve Barlow who also raced with us last night and helped load the car.

We thought it was the hardened output shaft, but not sure. To our surprise  it was the short output shaft on the passenger side. This is what makes me go hum . I have the DTE Brace, Harden Output Shaft, Stock Clutch, DR's with only a 1.9? 60' and with a low 3500 launch. Doh! how does this happen?????

Is there a place to get a hardened short shaft????????

use slicks instead of drag radials

still a chance you might break but a lot less likely

DR's seems to break more parts than Et Streets.

I don't know what ever happened to Rodney, but he was testing this. I sent him PM's several times about it, and never really got any sort of response back. Perhaps you might check with him. It doesn't look that hard to build one. anyone who can make a long shaft could make a short shaft...

I was looking through one of the axles catalogs, and I think Strange may be building them now also (or was planning to).

Wonder where you guys went Wednesday night! We have never raced in weather that hot (3400 ft. DA).

Get the CCW drag setup or go back to an automatic!

16" require a CCW or a few Weld Wheels (which seem to be hard to locate). The 16" wheel has more sidewall, so I think it would wrinkle more.

I have not tested the 17" ET street, but you have a lot more wheel options.

If you are gonna make a habit out of going to the strip, I definitely recommend spending the money on the CCW drag package.

We have a handheld TAG weather station WSC-2 (www.tagrace.com) that gives DA, temp, humidity and station pressure. We use it along with previous runs and other data to help predict how to set up the electronics for the next run.

You can compute the DA if you know the weather conditons at the time and go to www.quarterjr.com and use their calculator. Use Google to find a bunch more on the web also.

We just received the first run of 50 pieces of our designed and engineered right output shaft Friday afternoon and we're in the process of putting the packaging together now. We have been working on perfecting this project for nearly 8 months now and it's not as easy to produce as one might think compared to the left side, as there were many obstacles to overcome in the design of this thing to successfully get to where we are now.

We've kept this project under our hat for quite a while until we were successful in its design and until we were able to apply for a patent after we produced a physical, viable component that was drawn to blueprint. We'll officially release all of the details for it to the public in a few days.

Best Regards,
DTE

Needless to say, we have a lot of nice prototype doorstops around here..
