I have a LS1 and want to install a LS6 intake manifold.

Is the LS6 MAF bigger then the LS1?

1997-2000 MAFs are the same size; 2001-2004 are the same, LS6 or LS1.

2001 and up LS1 C5s have the LS6 intake manifold. I hope this helps.

Yes, they are.

The 01+ MAF are the same for the LS1 and LS6, however. the LS1 versions have a metal screen on the inlet side, the LS6 version does not. This is the only difference I believe.

I also do not know how easy or difficult it is to upgrade to the late model MAF sensor, as I believe the late model also incorporates the IAT sensor in it, where the 2000 and older models had a seperate IAT sensor? I'm not really sure, but it would seem if this is the case, some wiring changes would be needed and it might not be a simple plug and play upgrade.

I'm sure someone has done this upgrade and can tell you what's all involved.

My wife has a '98 C5 and I have an '02 Z06. I'm at work now, but I'll take a look at the differences when I get home. I'll post the answer in ~2 hours or so.

O.K., I just looked at both MAFs:

1998 C5 - wires coming out are tan, black, purple, with the tan wire closest to the MAF center

2002 Z06 - wires coming out are purple, tan, black, pink, yellow, with the the purple wire at the top of the MAF.

It doesn't look like it would be easy to do a plug and play unless you have access to lots of GM Weatherpak connectors.

Maybe I'm just missing it, but I don't see any LS1 to LS6 MAF upgrade on that website.
