I changed my thermostat and went to test car out and the light on the a/c didnt come on nor the cold air from the vents. Its a 1998 manual a/c not auto dual. Many thanks in advance!
Check the codes Also check the AC Compressor drive belt. It has it's own belt and they can break and you will not even know it until your AC quits!
That AC compressor is a little tough to get to!

True a thermostat can effect heat because (I know this is obvious) it regulates coolant temp, but not the a/c. I am assuming that the climate controls power up the blower blows.. and like you said the a/c light will not turn on.. And the system was working before the thermostat? I would check for codes and check the fuses.. thats where I would start the diagnosis.. maybe some more people will chime in with more info for you..

Sorry I should have mentioned that I checked all fuses for HVAC and airconditioning. It was working alright a week before I replaced the thermostat. Think it's possible that the spilled DexCool affected the compressor? I will check codes in a lil bit and look them up etc. I'll also check the belt because I have heard a squeak recently. When I try to turn the A/C on IO dont -think- I hear the comprerssor working but then again I'm no tech. I'm just trying to avoid dealer if possible because I live 17 miles from the nearest one Thanks all
Even without a belt attached, when you have someone select the AC mode or Defrost mode the clutch on the AC compressor should engauge (CLICK). I also believe the engine idle should be effected a little.
That would let you know that you have functioning power to the compressor clutch. If you are low on freon the suction pressure switch will keep the clutch from turning the compressor.

What does the external temperature say on the AC display?
If you got coolant on the sensor which is in the radiator shroud the sensor could think it is winter and the AC won't come on.
sorry about the delay in checking codes I've been extremely busy with my son's birthday. Can someone tell me where this belt is, or have a picture? What about the thing on the radiator? Thanks again, sorry for being useless lol.
