I finished install the SuperMaxx header this weekend. The quality on the headers is outstanding. I had them coated in SwainTech White Lightning. I’m using the stock TI and it sounds awesome. Here is how the install went, sorry there are no pictures.
Day 1
Started about 8:00am and removed coil packs, wires, air tubes, driver side plugs, alternator, and passenger side motor mount bolt. The stock manifolds came out from the top, and removed everything underneath.
The driver side header went in easily from the bottom, we had the car about 22 off the ground and the passenger side from the top with the motor jacked over a bit. I didn’t remove the valve covers or starter on the passenger side.
Spend about two hours figuring a way to route the O2 wires and ended up crossing them and having to re-due the next day. I put a KoolSox on the starter wires to protect the a little bit more.
I spent about 6 hours the first day, with skin missing from my hands and arms.
Days 2
Started about 8:00am a little slow, and a little sore from the days before. Rewired the O2’s and finished tightening the clamps and aligning the tips. The tips aligned themselves perfect the first time. Reconnected the alternator, coil packs and plugs. I took awhile to put the KoolSox’s on the plug wires. I will have to order one more to replace the one I put on the starter wires. Had my dad double check everything making sure I didn’t miss anything, he seemed to escape any scrapes or cuts on his hands. Started the car while it was in the air and ran it for a while making sure there wasn’t any leaks. Lowered the car and went for a drive.
I spent about 4 hours the second day.
Conclusion
The car defiantly pulls harder in all the gears. (It must be all that red blood on the headers!) If I had to do it again I could probably do it in 5 hours total. I will be going to the dyno later this week to tune and will post the gains.

That made me laugh. The most time consuming part of when I installed mine was routing the front O2 sensor wires so that they wouldn't fall onto the headers.

The install overall really wasn't that bad.
Enjoy (I know I do mine )
Two hours at least. It was definately the most bothersome part of the job.
My car is not lowered, The headers dont hang down past the tunnel. I don't think there would be a problem on a lowered car. Where I live I scrape on everything.
I picked up a total of 65 RWHP from LS6 intake, Vortex, Halltech air bridge and supermaxx system. My car is lowered and I've had no clearance issues. I did buy a thermal blanket for my starter
and 02 wiring after reading about several members cooking theirs with the headers. I love em.

Are you sure you did not lose 65HP?
To believe this forum, that is the case with the Supermaxx headers.
Who tuned your car BTW? Is there anyone in town who knows what they are doing?

James, are you using Andy's rocker rails by any chance? If so, do any part of this header system hang below those rails?
Thanks Watch. That was a great abbreviated summary of a job I am considering doing in the next few weeks. I will likely be a bit sorer on day #2 at my age.

No, I gained a net 65 RWHP with everything and that's with my irridiums gapped at .060. I screwed up and gapped em to factory specs.
I expect to have further gains when I re-gap the plugs.
Dragon Race Engineering in Broomfield did the dyno tune.
I'm not using Andy's rocker rails and I picked up the starter blanket at 3R Racing. You may have seen their Vette's & Vipers in World Challenge races. I did get some minor rubbing on the steering shaft while doing Time Trials but I never noticed it while driving.
I'm gonna get the car dyno'd again after I re-gap, Iv'e been told I may be giving up 10 HP with the gap I have now.
I am considering these headers and have a few questions. What is the swain tech coating? Does the Halltech bridge hit your hood? I could not get mine to fit with at least some clearance, and I dont want to cut anything

What I find odd is that the Supermaxx have approximately the same clearance as other headers in this area and yet no-one reports rubbing with the other headers. I don't understand since its not a function of the header itself.
I didn't have any clearance problems with the Haltech. Do you have the carbon fiber model ? As far as the swain coating goes, I'm not familiar with it. I really like the blue/gold color they turn after some heat cycles. I would suggest some good heat shielding for the wiring and starter though.
