Default CLB Problem

Installed last night, column no longer locks, so that part works OK.
Initially had problems keeping it running when I would put it in gear but after pulling key out for the obligatory 10 seconds ran fine. Drove it several miles, shut it down twice, no problem. Got up, drove to work, OK. Over the noon hour when I went to restart it, got the 10 second message and the car died when I put it in gear. Left it out 10 seconds and then things were fine again. Was surprised (dissapointed) to have this happen today. any thoughts?

Try looking through this thread. It appears that the CLB doesn't always work on early model cars

Also, the contacts on your key may need to be cleaned (try denatured alcohol).

Sorry about the problem. It's a shame to have to deal with something like this on a car of this caliber.

Good Luck,
roscoe

It sounds like a security problem with the key to me. Are you getting the security light also or just the pull key message?
It may not even be related to the CLB issue. It may just be a bad chip on the key. Try your other key and see what happens.
Part of the anti-theft system on these cars shuts down the fuel pump upon acceleration.
Good luck.
