Default Help! Car keeps throwing P0106 and P0300 codes!

I just had a new clutch and some 3.90's installed and since the install my car keeps throwing a P0106( map sensor out of range)and now a P0300 multiple missfire code. My car is tuned with edit which I had done myself. I have a cam 228/230 .571/.573 112 and had this cam all last year and no codes. I changed all the values in edit to avoid the misfire codes but for some reason I keep getting them-but only since my clutch and diff has ben installed. I'm wondering if any vacuum hose or the map sensor was damaged during the install? I know I had to raise the engine when I installed my Kooks but I checked and made sure nothing was out of wack. I'm just wondering when the motor tilted when they did the clutch and diff swap if something was moved or line got pinched or something? Anyhelp would be appreciated!

Did you tell the computer you changed gears?

If I am not mistaken these two codes were edited out for me when my heads and cam were installed a couple of years ago. I know for sure the misfire code was one of two that would keep displaying if they were not programmed out of the computer somehow.

Contact one of the forum vendors like Chris at ECS thay will be able to provide an accurate response.

I got the same codes on my car when I had a broken valvespring. The car was running fine then one time when I started it, it sounded a little rough at first then smoothed out so I pulled the valvecovers to have a look and saw a spring broken on the #7 cylinder

I've been getting an intermittent P0106 code when the car sits at idle. Not really sure what to make of it, it doesn't seem to be a common problem.

P0300 means misfires. Check your plugs and wires! Measure the wires with an ohm meter. Should be 250-750 ohms. If their bad replace them.

U know what-I was thinking about the valvesprings. I've changed plugs, wires everything I can think of. Thanks Kh24, I think it's worth the effort to pull the valvesprings and take a look.

A couple of quicks shot in the dark. When a friend and I changed the clutch in his car, his airbridge got messed up. The airbridge buckled inwards underneath and there was a hole you could put your pinky in but it was underneath so you couldn't see it. I'm also wondering if your headers are tight. There is also a big fat harness that runs up top from behind the engine, down the bell housing and along the torque tube. It has a strong desire to wedge itself between the torque tube and the bell housing when you are connecting the two. Just some suggestions from our experience.

Thanks bink but I talked to NoGo already, my cam is a 228/230 .571/.573 on a 112 so if falls under the 230+ cams. I'm going to pull the valvesprings and then next week the clutch and the gears are coming out-hopefully then we can check the harness that sits near the bellhousing.

How is your car running?

I take it the engine is running rough, and if the clutch was changed then the engine was tilted back, so you need to probably pull the intake and check the MAP sensor and connector.

I'm willing to bet since you drove this car for a year with no codes that it's related to the clutch swap

I checked the valvesrpings and they are all good. I think I will just pull the intake and take a look at the map and harness behind the intake. For some reason I cannot get my autotap to work so it's really hard to see what the mapsensor is doing and where the misfires came from.

Got the SAME EXACT codes I pulled from Car after OBX Longtube Headers and Varam VR-B2 cold air intake was installed. Car struggles to idle and surges when driven . Code P0106 points to Map Sensor , so will get to that when parts come in. As far as I know Map Sensor is under intake so while intake is off gonna change out oil pressure switch and knock sensors. Wanna only do this once.

Do you own a scan tool to maybe look at your fuel trims in ref to the P0300 misfire??...if you don't own one get prepared to fire the parts cannon !!...since the clutch was changed my direction for diagnosis would go that way !!...a vacuum leak would skew your MAP sensor reading and then you get the P0106. I could give you direction for diagnosis if it was JUST the P0106...I could name 10 things off the top of my head that would throw a P0300 but as you know 99.9% of DIY'ers go for the plugs and wires. For me a P0300 diagnosis is always 4 things...cam/crank, fuel, ignition and compression. I think you would actually save money taking it to a shop than possibly replacing $2,000 in parts...for now look for anything that was disturbed during the clutch install. I'll include 2 pictures I took with key KOEO and engine running so you can see what you would and should be looking at for a MAP sensor issue...Baro and MAP psi should be the same with engine off...a dirty throttle body can throw a P0106...The PCM calculates a MAP reading based on throttle postion and engine speed. In the picture a clean throttle body should be below 10% with engine running
