Noisy MN6 Shifter
I'm new to the C5, I recently purchased a 00 Coupe with 18,000 miles. I've read some chatter about noisy MN6 shifters, but I can't find anything in the tech tips about it. Is there a way to eliminate the BUZZ at higher RPMs ?? I love the feel of the stock shift ****, but I'll go aftermarket if that'll get rid of the noise. Thanks in advance for any help.

Lots of fixes and opinions on this issue. Mine was resolved 98% by greasing the heck out of the shifter shaft and pivot points with high temp wheel bearing grease. Also wrapped the top threaded part of the handle with teflon tape before I installed the Momo shifter handle even though it was isolated from the metal threads with a rubber bushing. My shifter's a Hurst shorty and it rattled like crazy on acceleration until I did the above.

On my '01 I ran a hurst with the stock shift ****. I scrunched up a small piece of t-shirt material and shoved it up into the ****. Tightening the **** compresses the material (compresses the heck out of it) but the result is that there is a very snug and cushioned fit of the **** to the shifter - I had no rattle with this setup.

Yesterday I noticed my B&M shifter rattling. It was the plastic insert in the top of the stock ****. This morning I cut a small piece of foam rubber and put that underneath the plastic insert. No more rattle, even under acceleration!
