I just bought a set of used B&B shorty headers from a forum member and have a few questions about them:
1. Does anybody have installation instructions or at least tips for installing?
2. Where can I get the gaskets? Will Advance auto parts have them or do I need to order them from B&B? Also, do the bottom flanges use gaskets? Do I need anything else for the installation?
3. What can I expect to change in terms of performance and sound? I know LT headers are a lot better and many people think shortys are a waste of time/money. I plan to graduate in Dec. from college and will build my car the right way when I get a good job but I have to take what I can afford now.
4. Any other advise/ comments?
Thanks
Randy

I installed mine about 3 years ago. Can use new stock gaskets from Chevy. Bottom has no gasket. Remove the spark plugs so you don't break any. Unbolt coil packs as a unit so they can be moved out of the way. Seem to remember that passengers side went in from the top and drivers from below. Tight fit but did not have to pry the motor around or loosen motor mounts. Biggest prob was the oil dip stick bolt did not line up with header hole and had to improvise and bend to get it to line up. Took me most of 6 hours, was slow and very careful.Had Corsa cat back and the sound didn't change much.
Good Luck.

It's actually pretty easy. I removed both coil packs, air tubes, alternator, plugs, wires, dipstick, and any hoses and other small things that might be in the way. I had the stock manifolds off in an hour. I even left the H pipe connected to the cat back, removing only the 2 bolts that are spring loaded in the front. Use stock gaskets, and if your donut gaskets for the flange look good, you can re-use them. Both go in from the top, and it is pretty easy. I got all the header bolts started & left them loose. I then attached the bottom flanges, leaving them loose as well. Tightened the headers first, then the flanges. I chose to put new O2 sensors in. Be sure to reconnect the plugs and put them back on the little tabs so they don't touch the exhaust. Drop me an email if you run into any problems. If they are the correct headers for your car, you should not have any problems. Scott

Could you feel a SOTP difference and did it sound different?
