I had the rear diff. fixed for the second time today. This time they replace the plate hopefully will fix the leak for good. I asked if they added the positraction additive and he said that it did not call for it.
I was under the impression it needed to be in there. Is there a service bulletin somewhere or something I can tell this guy. Or do I not need to worry about it at all?
Just from what I recently researched it seems with Mobil 1 or GM fluid you definitely need it (4 oz. with drain & fill). With Amsoil and Red Line, only use after the fact if you have chatter.

Mobil-1 states that it will work with limited slip diffs. No additive needed.

The Service Manual calls for the additive. Why would you not use a lubricant required by the manufacturer? (Especially when the additive is inexpensive.)

I wouldn't use it if the diff was already working properly.

Using the correct lubricants is how you KEEP it working properly. Properly maintain your car - Do the next guy who will own your car a favor.
