Default Finally resolved the sqeaky tensior issue...

Well, I have been dealing with that sqeaky tensioner noise for ever now.
It comes and goes but mainly comes.
I have taken it to the dealership several times (7+) and all they do is that stupid TSB and replace the serpentine tensioner and the alternator. The problem always returns.

Well this time I must have gotten a mechanic that knew what he was doing.
He told me that he removed the serpentine belt and started the car. He said the noise persisted.
This pointed him to the AC belt and pully. He found that the AC tensioner was sticking out about 1 1/2 inches towards the front of the car. The was causing the belt to tear and causing everything to go offline.
He replaced the AC tensioner and the belt and the problem is gone. I mean completely. I have not heard the car so smooth reving in 3+ years...
I could have swore it was coming form the Serpentine pully too. He said he did nothing there. AC on or not this thing purs.
I just thought this might help some of you guys with the same problem to possibly point the technician in the right direction so to speak.
If not they may just end up replacing the tensioner and the problem always returns.

my .02 cents.

Do you mean to say it was offline by 1 1/2 inches? Wouldn't that have
been very visually obvious?

I am not sure... it is way down there.
He could have been stretching it a little. My service guy took the phone back there and I talked to the technician personally. He was really cool and was convinced this was the cause of all the noise.

It really made a difference.

i had the same kind of troubles for a while.

They would spray belt dressing on and the problem was still there so they "replaced the tensioner" yeah right thats why the squeek came back and then it was a bad belt after i pay deductibles and all that fun.

So i never knew if it was the belt or the tensioner
