Who has 500 Hp and what combos are they using?
Any 1/4 mile times?
I've been checking out a lot of different combos for a while now and really can't decide on what to do yet. I drive my car on the street but not an everyday driver. When I do drive I like to get on it. I was wondering are there any good combos that won't cause problems? I'm not too impressed with the superchargers or nitrous. I'm not saying they don't perform. I'm just saying they have downfalls to both of them. I'm looking for the best performance for the least amount of money. Again no nitrous. My brother in law drag races and he keeps trying to talk me into not messing with my car and to buy another sports car to rag on or another engine to build. Any info I'd appreciate it. I would like a 10 second or faster car.
You can build it to a 10 second car with heads cam and drive line setup but get ready to put down some money---many of our tuners can tell you what you need to do---it is very commonplace now to find very streetable cars with just heads cam and header packages putting out of 450rwhp and some 500 or better and with gears etc they are in the 10's--there is only one NA c5 I know of that has run in the high 9's and another on the way they are from Cartek (Mike and Brent) both strokers to the max, Vette Doctors has one in the low 9's but its a back half c5r motor that is not for the street--if you want a street car that will get 9's I suggest you get another car like an fbody and build it and you will probably spend less money and still have the vette the way it is--I have had mine all the ways you have mentioned and doing it again I would probably have just done a good 450rwhp H/C car with 410 gears and assorted boltons--

Call 21st Century Muscle Cars...they do a good 500 fwhp combo, that still has street manners.
Neptune thanks for the info. I've been checking those vendors you've mentioned. They are all good ones. I've been checking out the h/c or just cam packages with 4.10 gears.
Nightmare thanks I just seen that one the other day on here. I called them yesterday and they told me they run mid 11's with that set-up and I'm wanting to be in the 10's at the least.

Mike - If you want to run 10's NA you are going to need a big motor or a *very* aggressive H/C setup. By 10's I mean a car that runs 130+ MPH in the 1/4 ( sorry guys, 60 foots don't impress me ) Expect to spend a good $10-15K+ ( motor, install, tuning, clutch, etc ).
FWIW, I am running over 500 rwhp with a D1 ProCharger with SIC. For a *street* car I think FI is the most fun - for a *race* car I would go H/C + N20 or larger cubes + N20.
Any good tuner LS1/LS6 heads (single spring), healthy street cam, headers and good dyno tuning/LS1 editing will give you at least 400 +/-rwhp with an MN6 (470+/- FWHP).
A ported TB and mild pulley with full free flowing exhaust will give you 425 +/- (500+/-FWHP) with that same combo with just a mild lope and a 950 rpm idle.
These combos with sticky drag radials, stock gears, and decent 60 ft times should get you mid 11's at the 120 +/- mph mark. With good weather, 10's are achievable with more aggresive tire/gearing combos
To get close to 500 RWHP N/A on a 347 is tough if you plan on having it be a street car that can race, as opposed to a race car on the street. IM me if you need more details

Just get ready to get the check book out if your not doing the work yourself..
I am just over 500 fwhp (cam and header car, no heads as of yet) and I am in the 3k range on parts. I installed everything on my car with the exception of the tune. Now I am looking at Head, Clutch, gears, and a built tranny. It's will cost another 6k-8k in parts to get the car in the 10's
10's N/A = Big Dollars. When you know how much you want to spend you will know how fast your going to go. It's as simple as that
Fastech can put together one of our F/A 427 Predator packages that will easily eclipse the 500rwhp plateau. We will be posting more information tomorrow after a little more dyno time.
How much does rob z's car weight?3000LBS.not everyone has a zo6 and can or is willing to drive it that hard.not everyone who puts the same cam he has in there car will run that fast.if all it takes is heads and a cam to run mid tens than why does mike's car (stealth)run 10.50 in the heat. not every day is a perfect day .on an average day,at an average track, in an average car it takes alot more than just a cam or even heads and a cam to go consistenly in the 10s.and its even harder with an automatic.and even harder yet if you are at full weight on a radial tire.
P.S 414 A4 COUPE 3750LBS 18 INCH DRAG RADIAL 10.92@124.ITS NOT THE FASTEST ITS JUST AVERAGE
There are many combinations which will get you HP. Best bet is to find a combination that fits your criteria such as driveability, idle, overall power and tq and your budget. I went with Cartek's 2x package and I'm pleased with it. It does everything I want it do. But again it depends on what you want out of the car and how much you can spend. Good luck.
