I remember hearing this somewhere, but I think you only need the HUD itself. There is already a connector there for it to hook up into. I found that out when I was looking at buying a 98 vette. Hope this helps.
To retrofit a HUD in a car not equipped, do you absolutely need a new cluster?
Mine's a 2000 with no HUD and no controls for it on the left of the cluster.
Thanks
You do not need a new cluster, apparently about halfway through the '99's all the clusters are HUD equipped. You do need the switch, the famous 11 pin connector, the projector & the bezel, everything except the 11 pin connector can be ordered from GM, the 11 pin connector can be found, but not from GM.

I'm assuming that the 'switch' is what I called 'the controls' ??
...and I assume the bland piece that I have pops out and the switch/controls just pop in ??
