Default I need advice for the track :(

Last night I went to the track and needless to say, I suck really bad at launching. I ran a best of 8.1@90.79MPH with a HORRIBLE 2.003 60FT time. The track conditions were not the best (it was about 97 degrees out and very humid). I have a 2000 6-speed that is pushing a little over 400RWHP and 388RWTQ. I have 305/35/18 Nitto drags on the back. The PSI on the tires was dropped to about 16 PSI. I also have a SPEC II clutch, ZO6 slave, and Mcleod Adjustable master. I have heard of many people getting 1.7 60ft's on Nittos and having good traction and times at the track. I was wondering if some one could give me some pointers on launching or maybe a smaller rim/tire setup? I thought that all these great times on Nitto drags were done on an 18 inch rim. Every time I shifted into second, I spun...and spun a little bit through first. Every time I launched, I either launched to hard or started off good only to have the engine bog a little (I might be riding the clutch).

Don't sweat it bro. Use the summer days as practice and don't worry about your times. I bet your not getting the nittos hot enough I would go to 15psi and do major burnout and get right up to the line. Forget about reaction time right now and pick a specific rpm like 3500 to start. Do your normal launch and see what happens. Its good to spin a little. Be very systematic. If you bog at 3500 with a quick release of the clutch, then up the rpms on launch. The key is to make sure you know what you did on the previous launch so you can correct on the next one. Soon you'll cut a 1.8x and make sure you know exactly what rpm, tire pressure, track conditions, etc.. Goodluck, you'll get it. Practice.

Bro!! Check it out! Chuck those tires @ the strip!!!! Bolt on a good 16"wrinkle walls 12psi or so 3000-3500rpm when the last amber bulb lights slip the clutch for about 10 feet while nutting the loud pedal in a smooth transition! Don't just drop the clutch and mat the gas! I pulled that 1.88 you read w/ burnt spec clutch, the Bite you will get w/ a wrinkle wall will really blow your mind!!! W/ that mph @660 you'll go 11sec easy@ 118-122mph 1/8 mile won't let you unleash the beast! These cars pull like a raped ape on the top end
