Default QTP C5 Tri Y Header Dyno Numbers!

Well we finally had a chance to get these installed on a car and dynoed. I hooked up with Mike@ J&M Motorsports in Manchester CT and he called one of his customers that had a C5. I rolled up there yesterday to get our C5 tri Y header on the C5. Its 2004 Convertible Corvette with only a black wing lid and B&B exhaust.

Install
Very easy and straight foward. After the factory components where out we stated to install the headers. Driver side from the bottle and passanger side from the top. Slid right in. Just the altenator and start where unbolted. Tighten up the header bolts and put the alt and started back in. Hook up the x pipe with cats. Slipped right on and then bolted it up to the rear section. Install time took under 5 hrs and with us taking our time. Very clean install and excellent clearance to the oil pan and body.

Started the car up drove it around the block and then strapped it to the dyno. We didnt expect much of a dyno gain because of the car didnt have time to adjust for the headers. I like at least a week or so for everything to settled in.
Well it still did well on the dyno.
Mods before 308.4hp 318.9
Stock 04 C5, Blackwing Lid, B&B Catback
After 332.9hp 348.6tq
QTP Stainless Steel Tri Y Headers
Catalytic X pipe

A nice gain across the board. From 2000 rpm all the way to the red line. This is with NO TUNING! FACTORY TUNE RIGHT OFF THE LIFT! NO OFF ROAD PIPE!

31.2 hp and 34.1 tq @4800 rpm and an average horse power increase of 28.4hp & 29.4tq from 3800-6000. Power where you want it!

Needless to say i was happy with the results and so was Mike@J&M and so was Frank the owner of the C5. The car will be coming back to J&M in a couple of weeks to get tuning to see what we can squeeze out of it.

Here is a chart of the dyno graphs that i put in to an excel spread sheet and shows the difference between the before and after. There will be some parts of the sheet with missing rpms. Thats due to the dyno.

At last, I have been patiently waiting to see what these would do and am glad I waited. The installation ease, low end power and retention of all of the O2 sensors is exactly what I was looking for. Now if I could just get this darn house remodeling work done, I will be ready

Did you use the 3" Random Tech section of the smaller one?

You Should try to make a 1 7/8 set for strokers and FI

Its the high flow Random Tech Metallic cats with the 2 3/4" x pipe.

It will work on a stroker and FI motors. Remember its goes from 1 3/4-2-2 1/2 to 3". Thats plenty of piping.

Will be working on a install sheet.

How would you expect the curve to change with the 3" RT pipe instead of the 2-3/4" pipe used?

I would also be interested in obtaining a copy of the instructions when available or if you put them on your web site.

Tony
I will call you later in the day.

Vettenuts
Hard to say with the 3" X pipe. Give me a call and we can figure out which is best.

How would you compare your header system with 3" Cats and X-pipe to the LGM Headers 3" Cats and X-pipe?

wouldn't the 2 1/2 make the 2 3/4 useless, since it can only flow as well as the worst flowing part??? also, wouldn't it also be uselss with a 2 1/2 cat back which seems to be the msot common?

Wow nice #'s and a great looking system. Is it stainless steel from front to back? Also, you looking to do any introductory pricing?

Im not one to knock another company. i have not tested against any other system out there. if a customer wants to they can. I do not wish to make header wars come back. But i am confident that our system is a great performer and will give the best results. I do not think a 3" x pipe is necessary on stock cube c5s.

Hubes
It has a stepped designed to it. There is no worse part in there.

Its a complete stainless steel system. And there is some special pricing. Give us a call.

maybe i worded that wrong, what i mean is, can't the whole exhaust system only flow as well as a straight 2 1/2" since that's the smallest? don't get me wrong, i think it's a great system, I'm just thinking the 3" would be overkill, on any motor, since there is one part of the system that only flows as well as a 2 1/2", I'm no expert, but a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. although I have seen megaphones at merge collectors on other headers b4 which i didn't understand y, maybe yours is the same kind of idea, although i'm not sure what the purpose of it is. please clear this up. thanks

Its the same idea as a megaphone effect. It flows real well actually. The X to the axle wont be a restriction at all.

I really wish I could get them now, but with the house torn apart and all of us living in one room while things are put back together, I think my wife would shoot me and bury me with the headers

But I have to say, these appear to be exactly what I have been waiting for in a header. All stainless, all O2 sensors are used, no motor jacking, pipes look very easy to align so no fighting to try and straighten the exhaust tips.

I am looking into getting headers soon and i think that these are the way to go. I have the QTP'S on my 99 camaro and they installed perfect with no problems and top notch quality. I like the tri-y design.

All familar with the wife going nuts. Been closed to be buried myself many times.

blk04z
The C5 headers are even easier than the camaro headers.
