Default Pulling the motor from top or bottom

I'm just curios, when pulling the motor, what is the popular method.
Iv'e heard pulling it out the top of the engine bay is a HUGE PITA vs.
dropping the entire drive train from the bottom.
Any commentary on your experience would be welcome.

JG

I pulled mine from the top. This is because I do not have a lift at home. It was actually pretty easy. The only hard part was removing the hood which required the help of my wife.

i second that and will add a little moving the engine foward off the torque tube is kinda a pita but I did the whole motor pull by myself minus help with hood in about 5 and a half hours. That wa my second time first took about 2 hours longer.

If you can get your car higher than 32" you can take out from the bottom, however you will need some kind of a craddle to lower the engine and wheel it out. I used a tranny jack, worked great.

Wow, 32" is pretty darn high. What type of jack stand did you use?

If you have a lift then take it out from the bottom but if your working in your garage with no lift then take it out the traditional way, through the top

For those who removed the motor why did you do it and how long to put it back in? I am considering building a stroker and wanted to know how much out and back in time.

Thanks
