Default Fuel Pressure Problems

I installed two different high pressure fuels pumps. Both have be shutting down during normal operation. When I am cruising at low RPMs. I have a fuel pressure gauge that monitors pressure off the fuel rails. It goes to Zero, the car stalls. Sometime I leave it in gear and it will fire up and run for another hour. Once I shut it off, went to cut the grass and came back and it would not start. Pushed it in the garage and the D#$% thing started the next morning. Once the cars heats up I have noticed a drop in fuel pressure. The first pump was a Racetronix and the second was an LPE.

My guesses are bad ground and/or possible bad fuel pressure regulator.

Did you install the upgraded Racetronixs wiring kit?

If so - maybe try replacing the fuse and the relay... also try changing the fuse for the stock fuel pump located under the hood's fuse compartment.

I have my wiring grounded to the relay itself...the bolt it is connected to., if it was ground - it shouldnt work at all.

The filter/regulator is only $50, so it may be worth changing if all else fails.

What kind of shape is your fuel filter in?

How can you know what shape your fuel filter is without taking it off and cutting it open?

Well it can be pressure tested to determine its flow. It can be flow tested to determine the same thing, it requires that you leave the garage and beer behind and go to a shop. The other thing you can do is see how long it has been in use and replace it if use if excessive. If the filter is blocked is can burn up a pump and allow no gas through. Just a thought on a weak point in the system, but since you have all the answers do not even consider it.

Guys, I replaced the fuel filter when the first gas pump gave me problems. That was my first guess. The problems continued. I did not install the upgraded wiring system. I will check that out.
First I am going to try the fuel pressure regulator. I now have 50K + on my car. Love driving this thing. Typically happens at 1500-2100 RPMS. Does not seem to happen at 3100 + RPMs
