Default Clarification for those concerned

Hey Guys, Though I've addressed the concerns of two forum members and new Kook's header owners privately, I need to clarify what our feelings are regarding ground clearance and our catalyitc converters. We've seen mention on the forum that a couple of members felt the cats were approximately 1/2" lower than factory. It's true. The cats we use are manufactured with built in heat shields. We felt it would be a big help in decreasing passenger compartment temperatures and subsequently nullifying the need for aftermarket heat shields. I believe we're the only manufacturer using cats with heat shields. With over 2500 systems sold to date, we've had no reports of ground clearance problems. Fact is we feel our systems install higher and offer better ground clearance than other brands. WE'LL STAND BEHIND OUR SYSTEMS BY OFFERING FREE REPLACEMENT OF ANY ITEMS DAMAGED DUE TO INEFFICIENT GROUND CLEARANCE.
With the amount of time and effort we exerted into the design, we feel these issues needed to be addressed and put to bed immediately. We already know we manufacture the very best header system on the market, yet we'll never be satisfied unless we know all our customers are thoroughly satisfied. Nick "Kook's Headers"

Nick, how come you didn't address my concerns? I have repeatedly voiced my concerns to other potential customers in query posts. I agree that Kooks headers are the best header performance-wise and have stated that also. I have damage from scraping cats and collector flanges. I really nailed them good Friday night. If you could, would you please contact me regarding this issue? I can provide pictures.

Well I am newbee when it comes to headers. But I have to admit I saw these posts regarding ground clearance....and they caused me concern even though my installer...Andy at A&A Corvettes did recommend the Kooks. I am having them installed in a couple of weeks.

I assume this is a lifetime warrantee? How about if your car is lowered?

Macinamouth, Let us be realistic shall we. Even at stock height these cars have a tough time negotiating most driveways and speed bumps. We've seen bone stock C5's tear up there underside pulling in and out of parking garages. Lowering your car compounds the problem further. If precautions are taken under normal usage our system will never bottom out. If your car is lowered and you insist on driving over steep speed bumps, you're going to scrape no matter what system you're using. I'm sure most forum members will agree with me. The point we're making with regards to warantee is to help disspell the notion that we manufacture a system that has ground clearance problems when cats are used. Over 2500 Kook's C5 customers and the dealers that sell and install our products clearly know we do not have this problem. Nick "Kook's Headers"

Thanks for the reply.
My car is not lowered and have only barely scraped front dam on steep driveways...never bottom of car...even on steep speed bumps.

As I indicated I already am a soon to be Kook ownner and wanted some feedback from the head guy since you made yourself available here on the forum.

These longtubes will be just right for me cause obviously I am way KOOKIE

Have you ever considered selling systems without the heatshields? Or even a half shell heatshield (just on the top of the cat?). Personally I could care less about the heatshield - if it gets too hot in the console (and it never has, with unshielded random tech cats) then I would put some kind of insulation in place.

Personally this is one reason why I would never consider Kooks C5 headers. It's a shame because they seem to be awesome otherwise.

What's wrong with going with the "awesome" header and installing whatever other cat you want? I don't think Nick forces you to buy his cats.

Oh, I was unaware that you could buy just the headers. Duh. I suppose buying the headers, the off road X pipe, and then having an exhaust shop weld in cats of your choice would be smart.

Just had the Vette Docs install kooks with cats. Awesome headers. My car is lowered and as long as I am careful, no scraping issues.

Call Vette Docs and order some now!!!

Are the cats you sell considered "High Flow" cats? Do you have apicture of them? Do they look like the Random Tech cats (size that is)?

If these cats do not flow better and a freer flowing then they are usless to me IMO. I am seriously considering the 1 7/8 headers for my car but NEED high flow cats.

Please advise.
