Had my 99 with F45 on the lift for a new rotor install. Guy that owns the shop called me to ask if I had lowered the car any since the last time I had it there back in January. I haven't lowered it, but he had a hard time getting it on the lift. He said it sits a good 3/8" lower than before. My question is if I had the dial set on Sport, would the car sit lower than if it was set on Tour. I think I had it set on Sport when I dropped it off yesterday. Maybe it was set on Tour when I took it there last time? I know that tire wear would not lower the car this much. WFT? Car rides good and runs good. Problems? Oh yeah, and he also mentioned that I had two codes for Column Lock and my column was locked. What a day so far.
How many miles on the car? It may be that the shocks are starting to go. Mine started getting lower then the shocks started bottoming out on any setting except performance. I replaced them and the ride is dramaticaly improved and the car is much higher than before.
When I pulled the fronts the shock could not even hold up the weight of the shock body. You could just hold it and it would compress itself.
You are going to have sticker shock when you see the price of the shocks. I got lucky and bought a set of new take offs from a forum member for $200. The shocks new are more than $400 each.
I've never noticed if my F45 sits lower in different modes but, overall, my car has dropped at least an additional 3/8" since I lowered it over 2 years ago. I've noticed that lots of C5's I've worked on are lower after they've aged a couple of years or more.
I also notice that the car will sit at different heights depending on the shock loading right before I jack it up. I always keep it in performance mode so it's very consistent.
Car had 47,xxx on it when I bought it in November. Just hit 53,000 last week. Ride quality has not changed. I guess this is a natural thing for them to maybe settle a little. Or could be the different setting.

Just got a Column Lock ReCall Notice in the mail today from the dealer I bought my '99 from. If you have an Automatic, they will have to remove the column lock. On 6spd, they will just have to reprogram the PCM and check the clearence of the lockplate and replace as necessary. All at no charge to you. Time 20 mins to 1hr - 40mins for automatics.
I've got an M6. Don't really want the service dept. messing with my computer since I've got LS1 Edit programming. Just ordered Column Lock Bypass Kit. I'll install this and then go from there. Car is in my driveway right now and isn't going anywhere. Guess I'll go home and put the cover on it while it sits.
