Can you put 4.10s in a 2.73 case?
Will you take a 2.73 case as a core?

TTT for ya Dave and may I suggest any one doing this upgrade might as well go for the hardened output shaft.. while the rear is apart any one with expierience.. will tell you that .. Nothing beats the help less feeling when those stock shafts snap... Witnessed.. 2 Z06's on BFG drag radials do there burnout.. then .. snap the stock shaft when they tried to launch at a ATCO track rental day just my .02 but i would'nt even think twice.. about this upgrade..

In a word yes, you should have 3.42 gears if your gears are stock.

Default diff questions

When you do the conversion do you put in all new bearings & seals? Can I send mine and get the same one back? Do you prep the outside of the case in any way or just clean it up? Some cores can come in looking pretty nasty or have corrosion on them. My car has about 28k miles on it and the case looks like new. If you tear it down isnt it better to put all new bearings in it anyway? I swore I was going to hold off spending for any more mods for now, but this is very tempting. What would the turnaround time be for upgradeing mine and sending it back? I just have to decide 3.90 or 4.10. I thought the M6 cars had the 3.73 rears as stock, also why does only one side need the heavy duty output shaft?

DAVID:

If i send you my Getrag 3.73 gears (ring and pinion 100% perfect) in its housing unit that is cracked all the way through, how much would it cost me to send me a fully installed 3.73 or 3.90 complete diff. unit all set up (and ready to be bolted into my car) including shipping to Chicago. What would be the price without a hardened output shaft less the credit for my getrag 3.73 ring and pinion that i would send you in its cracked getrag built 3.73 diff. housing unit/rear carrier? Pleae note that the ring and pinon 3.73s i would be sending you are 100% perfect as the rear diff. unit did not implode/hand grenade, but simply was leaking when i yanked it and saw that it had a crack all the way through. Car was running fine when i yanked the carrier out of the car, etc. and the 3.73s should be 100% reusable. If it would be cheaper, how much to simply reinstall my 3.73 gears into a new housing unit that you would supply and i would ship the complete cracked getrag 3,73 unti with gears installed inside, etc.

Thanks bro and please send me a PM or email as i am ready to get my 3.73s fixed up asap!

We hot tank all housings and always prefer to use your original rear. We do reject bad cores from time to time. Yes we do replace the main bearings.
