Recall 2003 Steering Wheel Lock
If this issue has already been addressed please excuse my question.
I just received my recall notice for my 2003 Vert with MN6 transmission.
The recall states that the PCM will have to be reprogramed.
I asked my dealer if the reprogramming would affect vehicle perfromance? The service area responded with "it shouldn't." I then asked if I did a Dyno on the car before and after would it remain the same? All of a sudden their answer was we don't know. I asked them to check for me and that was 2 days ago and I have heard nothing.
I also called Chevrolet Customer Service with the same issue. They could not respond and said they would check with their Tech department and get back to me Friday. Friday has now come and gone and still no answer.
Does anyone out here know whether vehicle performance will be affected by said recall? Also I have the CAGS eliminator installed--will this have to be disconnected inorder forthe PCM to be re-programmed or can it stay connected?
Finally Chevrolet says in its recall that the lock problem only results at start up. Has there ever been a case where someone has been driving for some time that the lock up has occurred?
Thank you in advance for your help.
