Default questionf or those w/ LAPD clutch bleeder

w/ the bleeder all the way closed, can you guys apply vacuum to the bleeder and not have it hold vacuum w/ a mity vac? Im experiencing a 4th gear grind and ive had syncros, fork, blocker etc replaced and it still grinds. IM somewhat concered that since i can suck air out of the bleeder air can get in. Any input appreciated.

Thanks
dave

I don't the correct answer to your question. But, my thoughts are; If for some reason you bleeder screw was leaking and you could not hold a seady vacuum that it would also squirt out fluid under pressure when you depressed the clutch pedal. I would suspect a leak where you are attaching the vacuum pump and not a leaking bleeder screw.

Do you get air out of the system when you bleed it?

i have no clue if im getting all the air out thats why im asking. THe odd thing is this. I put a wire tie around the hose to tighten it to the bleeder so im sure it isnt leaking air. I also took the bleeder off and applied vacuum to it while holding the other side of the bleeder hole closed w/ my finger and it holds vacuum (w/o the wire tie around the nipple either).

I not sure what type of vacuum bleeder you are using but you could try replacing the hose with a clear hose; then you would be able to see if any air bubles were being sucked out. Or do it the two-man method with a clear hose and look for air bubbles.
Not sure I can be of any more help since I don't have that system on my car.
