I have a 2000 C5 which started stalling once and while so I took it to the dealer and they told me I needed to replace the fuel pump. I was not comfortable with what they told me so I decided to drive it a little longer and see what would happen. It progressively got worse and now will only run for a minute or two before stalling. I checked the fuel rail in the engine compartment and it will barely flowed any fuel, but when I remove the relay and jump the circuit it will flow a good amount of fuel. The relay is good(I tried others) and the only code I periodically got was a 1064(loss of communication with BCM). Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.
what is your fuel pressure?residual pressure?when you jump the relay,is it right after the car stalls?you could still have a bad pump that pukes out when it gets hot.
The car has come to the point were it will not start or run on its own, but when the relay is taken out and a jumper is put in its place the car will start and run(I only let it run for a short time). This is why I do not think the fuel pump is the problem. I am waiting for a fuel preasure gauge and when I get the readings I will post them. Thanks for all the help; I do appreciate it. Let me know what you think!
the pcm sends 12 volts to the relay coil to energize it[once it see's a crank signal].if the car runs with the relay jumped out, either you don't have the 12 volts coming from the pcm to the relay coil or you're missing the ground at the relay coil[this is assuming you have no faults in the system, though i believe you would have a fault if this was the case].do you have any faults in any system?are you sure the car isn't shutting down due to it thinks it's being stolen.recheck to see if you have any faults anywhere.for ha-ha's see if the right front floor is wet from a clogged a/c drain,if so,see if the bcm is filled with water.
see if there are faults in any other system[key on/engine off, hold "options button"and hit "fuel" 4 times, dic should display faults in all systems,if any]
