Has anyone changed there Dex-Cool? I’ve heard rumors of lawsuits building against GM for this and was told it has been reformulated 6 times in an attempt to get it right.

I was told to remove it after a few years and replace it with the Green stuff. I was also told that if you do remove the red stuff make sure you flush out the red stuff completly or you will have big time problems with the bad reaction between the green stuff and the red stuff they are not compatiable. As a side note a local mechanic said he has seen the red stuff turn into this thick honey like consistance after a few years of operation.
All problems with DexCool have been traced to either mixing with non-DexCool anti-freeze, or not keeping your coolant system completely full. That was the conclusion that GM and Texaco came to. Keep your coolant system full, don't mix coolant types, and you wont have problems.
From: the GOCC are everywhere, even back from "band camp"
I hear those rumors, but never see anything. It works fine in all my vehicles; Dex-Cool and distilled water at 50/50. No early cooling system failures here. AND NEVER MIX THE TWO TYPES!!!

I had this happen to my 96 Camaro. Spent a fortune flushing the radiator trying to get rid of all the crap. Apparently the original Dex-Cool was junk, but is getting better. Just never mix colors!
I have the original Dex-Cool coolant in my 98 Silverado, it has 70,000 miles on it and I've only topped off the overflow bottle twice with a 50/50 misture of Dex-Cool and water. It still looks like brand new and I'll continue to use it as long it looks this way

Just because it looks good doesn't mean it's OK. 5 years is really about the max. I'd flush and refill if I were you.
Do some research, don't believe all that you hear. I have changed all my cars from the "green" stuff to Dexcool and have been running it for years problem free. I have even drained the systems and looked inside with a boroscope and the block and radiators look like brand new. Keep it full and you will be fine.
