Default tech ques about dynoing

if i put on a mod, the computer has to learn the change and adjust appropriately.
if i dyno then add a part for a change and dyno again, isnt this a false reading?
or is wot still the same either way.?
id like to do side by side runs with a new maf and was wondering how this works?
thanks, don

Not sure I know the exact answer, but last time I saw a place do something like this, they installed the part and then took it out for about 50 miles before putting back on the dyno. I was more familiar with the early C4 software, but I believe the C5 uses the fuel trims as part of the full throttle fuel allocation rather than just a set of tables. I am sure someone will correct me if wrong.

You may also want to post this in the scan & tune section.

It's been recommended, and it's my understanding, that after initial tune (to make it idle and stay running, depending on changes) to then drive it for 50 miles or about 50 minutes for the PCM to relearn everything. Then followed up with a real tune for Air/Fuel ratio, WOT PE, and Timing.
