Is 3 years good for a Zo6 battery? Mine just died while in having a trany and gerabox oil change.
I dont know if the guys did something to cause it to die
The new one was $89,,plus $150 for the 2 oil changes> is this a little steep or normal?
Probably about average there in Houston. Here in "sunny" AZ a battery is lucky to last 2 yrs. Mine just went out while I was at Costco with the wife. Came out and it was dead as the proverbial "doorknob". Definitely consider the Optima Red Top as a replacement. Sure you've heard the leaking battery horror stories.

When the old one came out..I checked under the batterry box for any leaks..It was OK , but alot of road dust and gunk there!!!!
Why is the computer under the battery...could'nt they find anywhere else to put such an important part of the car!!!!
In '01 and '02 GM went with the AGM (Gel) batteries, I think in an attempt to stop the "acid leak" problems. From what I can gather here, these batteries do not have as long a life as the lead acid batteries.
My '02 battery died last night, after picking my car up from the dealer where it was in for warranty work (rear diff. seal leak and passenger window regulator ) yesterday.
In this summer heat they are more prone to dying suddenly. And believe me these AGM batteries give NO warning.
3 years sounds pretty good to me, in this Texas heat, if it was an AGM battery.

Heat and cheap Delco batteries are the enemy. I am on my third battery in 4 years.
My OEM AGM battery is more than 3 years old and still as strong as the day I received the car. I have no reason to believe it won't go another year or two. When it finally goes, I will consider one of these batteries:

My warning was the DIC defaulted. After installing Optima Redtop, no more default.
