bolt on K&N filter?

Does anyone know the air box inlet outer diameter? Has anyone just taken the air box out and placed a K&N universial filter on?

K&N

I did it You need K&N filter # rf-1040 Clamps right on, works great, about $ 50 P.S. this is on an `03 Z06.

For the first few months on my '02. I used an old conical filter I had laying around. Worked great and was cheap: free!

Thanks for the offer but I'm in Houston. I found one on the net for 40 bucks. Are the rest of you very unsatisfied with the stock air box as I am. Everytime I open the hood the latches are off? I just looped a strap around it to keep it shut! looks like H@#$!
