Hi, I'm trying to remove the front shocks, and I have no idea how to remove the top nut from its bolt. The entire bolt rotates. The head of the bolt has some rectangular shape, but doesn't fit any sockets from my wrench. Helpp!
Vic,
From what I remember, the top of the shock has a hex or torx hole in it.
All you need its the right sized tool.
Also, I'm doing this from memory as I'm at work, you can move the coolant resevore from under the hood on the right side and get right at the top of the shock. I don't remember what to move if anything on the left side. Once you can get to it I think a vice grip above the threads will work too.
P.S. Remember to use tie wraps to keep the shocks compressed. The more they are compressed the easier they are to remove. And the same goes when you reinstall your new ones.
You need a friend to hold the bottom or grip the metal under the boot. It spun on me and my friend too. If it's bilsteins you're putting on, keep the rubber oem bushings where the shock comes through the fenderwell. The square ones with the bilsteins doesn't fit.
