Ok I need some help with my clutch. I have a 99 coupe with a Z06 clutch upgrade. I also had a new slave and master put in when the clutch was installed. It worked great for about 3000 miles or so and now it works when it wants to. Some times it will release from the flywheel and some times it want. The wired thing is that you can put the car in gear and hold the clutch to the floor and rev the motor up and the car will start to go forward or backwards depending on if it is in 1st or reverse. We have bleed the clutch and even swapped out the slave. And you get in it and it shifts great. But than some days I get in it and it want go in any gear. If any body has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

It will make you say alot of 4 letter words. One good thing is that from my understanding is that the master is pretty easy to replace. When you put yours in gear and rev it up does the car start to go foward? Because mine does. Its makes me want to go but A4

Sounds familiar.....I replaced the stock clutch with a Z06 unit also. After the swap I now have issues. In my case when you first drive the car the clutch engages very close to the floor with a certain amount of free play at the top of the pedal. After driving around and using the clutch for awhile.....the engagement point becomes higher and the free play at the top becomes less. The pedal also become a little stiffer, (there might be some viagra in that clutch fluid). Anyway, I have an adjustable clutch master cylinder on order (Mcleod)which will be installed at East Coast Ssupercharging right after Carlisle. Along with a rebuild tranny from Rodney(crashed 94) and the external bleeder and tunnel reinforcement plate from LAPD.

I have a cartek adjustable mastcylinder in my car, I love it. It sounds like thats what you need. Did you you have your flywheel machined when you did the clutch?

I think the cartek adjustable unit is also a Mcleod. I bought a Z06 clutch package which comes with a flywheel, pressure plate and disc. The slave cylinder was extra. The balancing act is another can of worms. From what I understand with my limited Corvette knownledge is that the final engine balancing is done externally using the flywheel and pressure plate as a means of getting a "0" balance. I believe they add "pins" to the flywheel to balance it out. Therefore, when buying a new clutch assembly you should have it balanced to the one you just took out.
If I'm wrong on this......I know I'm going to hear about it. But I think that's the way it goes

I have thought about bying the adjustable master but I need to know that is the problem first. I mean the master is new. The fly wheel is new to it comes with the kit. I also thought that parts of the disc could be broke but I would here them moving around when I drive the car I would think.
Hey guys thanks a lot on all the advice. If the master is the problem I will by a new adjustable one. But I want to fix the problem not compensate around it. Which master would work best for my set up on the Z06 assembly? Dave Bush was talking about one before the McLeod. What is the brand name and the price is you don’t mind?
