Default A4 Stall Speed Problem

My '01 A4 Coupe, completely stock, stalls hard when I try to load the converter. I can only get about 1500 rpm. Even if I let up on the brake a little it won't even squeek the tires. It completely bogs and the revs even seem to fall off a bit. I thought the Vette converters were looser than this.

I did have an encounter with a deer a while back (replaced the front facia, she's perfect again). I noticed in another thread that someone mentioned the computer throwing a code in a collision. Could that be the case?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you turning off the traction control first?

The computer has a thing called abuse mode. If you try to stall it up with the brakes on it it cuts all of the timing. It will go back to 0 degrees. You need a reprogram if you want to to any brake stalls.

Yes, the TC is off. Mike with Xtreme posted a good comment about the "abuse" mode.

Bring it up to the 1500 rpm's, release the brakes and mash the throttle at the same time, TC off, and she will light em up.

It used to do just that, power braking was no problem. It seems now though that it just wants to bog. This has been going on since the deer encounter (see my original post). Don't know if that could have changed anything.

BTW, I can get a good smoky burn out in the water box at the strip. Once the tires start to spin the Revs come up and I can smoke'm at will.

It just seems strange that this problem coincides with a minor collision.
