from what I've been told, by C5 tec's who have been racing C5's for a good while, the Z06 springs are more than sufficient for a moderately modded C5 unless you are running a huge cam. Mine runs to 6500 without a problem.

I'm running Crane duals w/ a TR 224 cam, four road course events this year to date plus around 5K street miles and they're going strong.
I had them rate checked and "exercised" to min height (coil bind - 0.060"). Only two failed the rate check as they deviated by more than 10 lb/in at 0.563" lift, and the shop swapped them.
I'm using Crane steel retainers, Crane seats, GM '98 seals, and Manley machined locks.
I mic'd all 16 valves to ensure I'd get the same installed height, no modifications were needed but it's nice to know for sure all 16 springs will be operating in the same range.
I think most spring failures are installation error more than manufacturing defects, personally. If they didn't have them rate checked, didn't have them exercised, didn't mic their installed heights on the engine, then it's kinda their fault. Variation happens.
The Vinci's in Orlando have been working with Crane for years doing their testing and helping with profiles. They have used the crane springs on endless cars and no probs, I have the duals on my car and been to 7K a few times, I also have the hardened seating cups and their titanium retainers---good product.
I installed the dual cranes, steel seats and titanium retainers this last winter with a Comp 224/228 598/601 113 cl and haven't had an issue yet. Chris.
You may want to go straight to Vinci. I recently ordered a cam and the dual spring setup from them and Roger Vinci told me that I will get the "latest and greatest" new springs. Apparently they retest the springs frequently after racing and found that a couple of springs lost a few pounds after a LOT of racing. In any event, they went back to Crane and made some changes to the springs to compensate. That does NOT mean they are bad springs... just that Vinci are perfectionists and are trying to get the BEST spring. I believe he said the changes Crane made are custom for their spring sets. So long winded summary
Crane duals are great springs
Vinci duals are a small step in from there if you believe Roger Vinci
