Default Help Needed with Turn Signal Problem

Found out today that my turn signals weren't working. Checked the fuses and all was o.k. I then noticed that the hazards weren't working either unless you played with the switch. After fiddling with it for a few minutes I got the hazards to work and then the turn signals worked fine. Sounded like the turn signal relay was having a hard time. I also noticed that when it didn't function I was getting a "Service Traction Control System" warning on the DIC. The traction control button didn't work at all if the hazards didn't work. Finally got it all working and all was good until the next trip. Same thing happened. Are the two systems tied together and do I have to replace the relay? If so, where is it and how hard is it? Please Help

Sounds like it could be the hazard switch.. If I remmber correctly the turnsignals are routed through that in dash switch and there has been some common problems with them.. as for the traction controll I'm not sure of a link between the 2 systems.. I would have to break out some wiring diagrams and take a look.. but If I were to make an educated guess I would replace the hazard switch...

When you say the relay sounded like it was having a hard time.. I am thinking this is because there is a bad connection through the hazard switch causing low voltage to the relay.. thats my theory..

Let me know what you find out..

Thanks, that makes sense to me. What's the easiest way to get to that switch?

The GM service manual tells you to remove the dash board to get to the hazard switch. But there is a post not that long ago about how to remove the hazard switch by just removing the front cover and using a punch to get the old switch out.

UPDATE....This procedure worked great! Saved me $400, I have asked for this to be placed under the tech tips for future users. I'm a happy driver again!
