I want to change out my stock rotors for some slotted & drilled or dimpled rotors. I don't track my car, so am I better off with slotted or dimpled? Which lasts longer and is more durable? And, here's the dumb question: Can these rotors be cut if & when they need it? Thanks.
Since you're not going to be tracking (or autocrossing) your car, just go with what looks best to you. I've never heard of anyone getting anything other than stock rotors turned, so can't help you there.
You'll find that slotted rotors will tend to go through pads quicker, but for a street driven car you might not be able to tell the difference.
I'm thinking about going with a set of Sport Brakes drilled & slotted rotors. I can get them for $277 delivered to my door - a great price and I've heard good things about them.

Their great for looks but be advised you lose about 12% of your effective swept braking area!
C5lou, i was thinking the same as you more look than funcionality, so i went with EBC dimpled & slotted with pads from the same manufacturer,i dont race either and most of my driving is highway miles, and there black anodized so they wont get the rusting like the stock. They will be installed next week.
I guess I don't understand why the car would lose braking with slotted/drilled rotors. Every race car I see in any series has these rotors on them. I'm assuming that the increased size of those rotors on race cars just makes them more effective? Again, I don't track my car and only occasionally need to really get hard on the brakes. I doubt that going with s & d rotors would cause me any great loss in performance for my driving. Does anyone know if these can be cut if necessary down the road?

On the street you won't, because the tires are your limiting factor. On repeated stops you will, because you've lost mass in the rotors from the slots and holes that could be absorbing heat.
Two things about racing rotors: first, they're drilled and slotted for, among other things, reducing rotational mass while keeping the diameter as large as possible for the maximum leverage. Second, they're thrown away after every event.
