Will '00 Keyless Remote work with '97-'99?

Will '00 Keyless Remote work with '97-'99?

My remote on my '99 has issues, and I'm looking to buy another one off eBay (or here if someone has one at a reasonable price). My question is will the '00 models without the passive switch work on the older cars? I never much cared for the passive feature, so losing it wouldn't be a big deal. I know they changed systems in '01 (and the remotes are much cheaper). Any help would be appreciated.

No it wont work. '00 key FOBs only works for 2000 C5s. They are the most expensive ones by the way so look for a '97-99 remotes.

There is a GM p/n on the back of the fob. You have to have the same p/n and FCC ID number. Plus the fob must be programed to match the car.

I figured as-much. The 2000's are actually a bit cheaper on eBay since they only work for that model year. I'll just have to pay a little extra and get a '97-'99 remote.
