Just a few minutes ago I got a Charge System Fault. This is a new car to me (99 A4 Coupe) that I purchased at Carlisle. Does anyone know what this error means? Also, can someone direct me to list of all the error codes? I ran diag and I have the following codes stored: 28 TCS C1255H; 58 SDM B1001H; B0 RFA U1096H, U1064H, U1016H and C2115HC.

I just replaced a failed tire sensor and have not relearned trick yet for the new sensor. I'm sure some of those codes are because of that.

I guess I should also point out that yesterday leaving my shop, the car would not start. As it turns out, it looks like both the positive and ground on the Optima Redtop Battery was all but finger tighten. We tighten these down and she fired right up. I'm guessing this charge system fault message is somehow tied to this problem. I'm heading out to the car now to make sure they didn't become loose again.

I get the charge error message when I let the car sit a week or so with out driving it. Only occurs on initial start up when the volt gauge is coming down off the gauge sweep. When it gives you the message, look at your volt gauge and see where that is reading.

 

i threw my belt and recieved the charge system. i swear i thought that means that the alternator is not charging the battery??????????

 

It will also give you the fault if its overcharging
