Default Fan Adjustment?

Is there anyway to adjust the fans without purchasing a programmer? I can't justify purchasing it for just that. My mods are basicaly a cat back exhaust and intake. Are there any more real advantages that would make the programmer purchase worth while?

Even with your level of mods, your engine could benefit by adjustment to AFR and (probably) timing advance. You can also change the rev limter (per gear), and would have the ability to compensate for different rear wheel size (if such a mod is done in the future).

The only way I know of to adjust fans w/o a programmer or edit is to hardwire a switch to manually turn them on (i.e., in the "on" position they would be on constantly; in the "off" position, they would cycle on/off at the factory programmed temps).

Thereis a fan controller wiring harness available from Mid-America Motorsports that will give you the adjustability your looking for. The programmer, depending on the one you choose, will give you the fan adjustments and several different tunes for varying setups. I've been using the Vinci Highperfofmance programmer to tune my vette when I make any mod changes. The programmer will definetily give your ride a SOTP power increase. There's a number of uses for this tool, look at www.vincihighperformance.com .

I purchased a fan controller from PepBoys, It was a lot less expensive than most of the ones in the aftermarket books and does the exact same thing. It is made by HAYDEN automotive. Model#3647
The UPC part # is 3675200647
It was $42.

I have two and will be willing to part with one for the same price that I bought it for.

How does it actually work? Can you set the temp for the fans to come on?
