I picked up a Motive brake bleeder for a decent price. I followed the directions to verify that the unit works. I've got a pretty good seal around the master cylinder, however when I pump up the bottle (dry) I get very little pressure building up due to a leak within the bottle around the pump handle. I took it apart and it seems the seal around the plunger is a little dry. I noticed a marking for oil by the shaft, but I have no idea what kind of oil to use.
Have any of you run across this before? Will this problem go away when I fill the bottle with brake fluid?
Mine worked perfectly from the get-go so I'd contact Motive aand have them replace your's. It's an awesome tool to have so don't be discouraged.
Btw, I have found that using between 20-25 psi gauge pressure works best with mine. Don't exceed 25 psi though as our brake system was not designed to exceed that.
