Default Z06 throttle response lag

Hi guys,

So I picked up my new 2003 Z06 today. After driving around a bunch, the car is certainly entertaining But the most annoying thing about driving the car is that there is about a 1/4 second delay between what my foot does on the throttle and when the engine bothers to respond. I'm used to throttle-cable cars where the engine responds instantaneously, so I'm not sure if this is something that is just there and I have to live with it or if it is something that should be better and needs to be fixed. Is this delay there for other C5s too? It's very easy to test - while cruising, just to brief stabs of the throttle and see if the motor responds the instant you hit the throttle or a bit later. Same with lifting off the gas, it takes a while to stop applying power - I keep thinking the throttle is stuck open A guy at work has a 350Z which also has drive-by-wire throttle, but has zero response lag. Can this be fixed in any way?

Thanks for any information/advice/tips/etc
Grant.

A ported TB will help you.

I have an 04 Z06 and notice no lag. My 99 did not have any lag either. Check to see the TB is clean and that there is nothing binding the throttle plate.

I have the exact delay you describe - it's on all the other c5s i've driven. I'm not sure for the technical explaination of why it's there, but it is annoying.

I'll have to agree to this "lag" I had it in my 97 and 99 C5 I attributed it to the "Fly by wire" throttle body.

This may not apply to the Z06 lag problem, but it had it with my '97 C5. It went away when I replaced the stock filter lid with a Z06 lid. I have since went to the zip tie mod and it runs even better.

What gear are you in when this occurs?

I've got an 02 z06, and it is independent of gear. An easy way to see this is when idling, jab the throttle - if you back off immediately, the blip is ignored. If not, I'd guess at .25-.5 second lag time before rpms increase.

I was out today in my 04 Z and there is no noticeable lag. It is instant.
I get immediate response and the throttle plate is in sync with the accel pedal. I suggest you get yours checked as it might be binding or maybe you need a program change...

Mine's almost to touchy. Blipping the throttle almost puts the engine at red line.
