Default Power Seat Problems...urgh!!

Hey all!!

Long time since I have been in the tech section!! ZOIKES!!

Got a minor problem, which turned into a major problem, and is now sort of a marginal problem...LOL.

A few months ago, my power seat quit moving on 'Easy entry'. I picked up on that and tried to move it manually, and still, no good, the seat would not move. It wasn't to big of a deal because it was stuck exactly where I needed it.

UNTIL....

I had someone detail the car, and SOMEHOW they managed to get the seat to move all the way forward...it then would not move back!!

ARGH

Not too bad until you consider the legs of someone 6'4"!!

Anyways, I hoped in it the other day, did my contortionists act to get my legs on either side of the steering wheel, shut the door, started the car and the memory settings slid the seat back a few inches. Not to where it needed to be, but it did still move. At least it is a BIT further back and in a pinch, it is driveable.

Has anyone had similar problems? It seems to me as if the motors are still working. It is just the controls that seem to be intermittent.

Thinking about the easy entry now, I have not tried to turn off the Easy entry yet to see if that may be conflicting things...

Any insight as to what may be happening??

Thanks!

Neill

***UPDATE***

OK...just went down to the car. Turned Easy Entry OFF, and it made no difference.

Then I tried something.

I got out of the car. Locked it. Then opened the car manually with the key. The power seat moved FINE!! As soon as I hit a memory select button, or a button on the keyfob, the seat jammed up.

Any insight in how to disable the memory settings, or how to reset that portion of the system?

My seats would move forward using the slide control but would not move back. Turned out it was a bad seat control switch..$75.00 from GM. I jury rigged by switching the passenger side switch. This confirmed it was the switch and not the motors.

I had this exact same problem a few days after I bought my car. It was repaired under warrenty.

The service record showed:

"replace, module, computer (control) body"

Hope that helps!
