cooling fans run for no reason
This morning I went out to the garage, the cooling fans were running. The car had not been run in 24 hours. No key in the ignition. This had robbed enough power from the less-than-one year old Optima Red Top so that the engine would not crank.
I have it on the battery charger now. What made the cooling fans come on by themselves--and stay on? Only other clue is that the dash lights were on too, again, no reason for them to be lit...no key in the ignition.
One other little thing, I had just cleaned the engine (gently) the day before, but it started just fine after that, and was completely dry, so I doubt that thats related.
Your help appreciated! Thanks!

Anyway...it's the Blower Control Module (or something like that) in the passenger foot well area I believe. I bought a new battery (Optima) and pulled fuze 49 (I think...check your manual for a super fuse) and drove it right to dealer to fix...cost me about $500 bucks. What sucks is that they did not take my word for it and put the car through all kinds of diagnostics costing about $100 of that $500.
Anyway, easy for them to fix...part I think was about $200. I don't have the invoice in front of me but if you want more detail, let me know...
Good luck!
