I'm pulling the rack for a MagnaCharger install and the passenger side mounting bracket appears to be REALLY TIGHTLY clamping on to the power steering rack. Liberal use of penetrant and a big prybar is getting me nowhere.
I had the same problem, one side of the rack was held in tightly.
Make sure you have the car secure on a set of jackstands, grab a short 2x4 and get under the car , put the 2x4 against the rack and beat on the other end with a hammer (pushing the rack up.).

Are you hittin' it longitudinally, or upwards (towards the roof)? What are you applying the force to? I'd hate to get the rack bore out-of-round...I didn't budget for a new one.
I am hitting on it upwards, I position the 2x4 as close to the passenger side mounting point of the rack as possible. I don't think you will damage the rack anymore than you will will a pry bar. Plus there really isn't enough rooom tot ake a monster swing at it, just enough to get it free though!
had the same problem, theres a metal insert you have to make sure its centered otherwise it catches on 1 side& wont allow it to be removed easy, then just pry it up.

Exactly The rack should pry out fairly easy with a long screwdriver.
However, if you want to get the rack out, we had to lower the K-rail about an inch to get it out of there. There might be an easier way, but we couldnt find one.
