It's nothing to fancy, but I would like to put a Z06 top-end on my LS1 with an aftermarket programer (if there is one) and a nitrous set-up. The main reason I want to stick with factory components is the reliablity factor. I figure with the 405hp Z stuff, hedders, a tune and the nitrous, I should be able to get myself into enough trouble. BTW, anyone do the Z top end job?

Totally understandable.

I have been looking at cams that are just a bit bigger than the LS6 cam for my car. I've done the heads and cam thing on an LS1 Camaro, and have had it done before by a shop as well. Although fast, and fun, it's not great for a daily driver with heavy traffic with an M6.

I've also been toying with the idea of buying the LS2 long block, ~$5k shipped, has the heads already, cam.... then just put my motor on a stand and keep it stock for smog reasons... for a LS6 Cam and Complete pair of heads it's ~$2k in parts and gaskets, etc...

But I have a thing about opening up the engine when it's working fine, but that's mainly due to Mogan Motorsports ruining my car about 3.5 years ago..... I'm scarred for life it seems

If you want to do it yourself, checkout www.ls1howto.com for info, jmX is a member here and has awesome info on his site.

Good luck on what you decide.
