Default Tire/Wheel Questions....

My first time messing with a C5

Will 18" rims fit alright on the front?
Where is the sensor exactly?
Also can you get the sensor off the original wheels and put them on the new ones?

Maybe the 1st time, but not the last, let me tell you.

Yes 18" rims will fit fine on the front, not sure about the tire size.

The sensor is located in the wheel where the air filler is. The filler and sensor are one piece.

Yes, sensors are switchable from one set of wheels to another, but it would be a good idea to retrain them once you have them on the car.

Make sure your new rims will accommodate the sensors.

Hello Sean99SS,
Just to add to 50 4Ever sensor comments which I agree with, try a tire size of 245x40x18. The stock size of 245x45x17 has a diameter of 25.68 inches.
The 245x40x18 has a diameter of 25.72 inches.
That is a diference of only .04 hundredths on an inch. Should work perfectly and will not trip ABS or traction control. The only difference will be a decrease in sidewall height but the car will not sense that. Section and diameter remain the same but you have the look of the 18 inch wheel. Hope this helps.
Bob

there are all levels of mechanical ability..Only18" wheels that are designed specifically for a C5 will fit... even 19 inch wheels will fit provided they are the right fitment for a c5... the wheels sensors are connected to the air valve of each tire..these sensor are expensive.. 130 dollars each.. removing them requires someone who know how to do it.. reinstalling them is not cut and dry meaning many after market wheels will not accept these sensors at their factory location and requires a kit ( epoxy and a wheel band) . If you buy wheels that fill fit your C5 you need to ask iof they will accept the factory wheel sensors.. secondly C5's come with two types of sensors.. your car uses the earlier type and the more expensive type... you can not interchange wheel sensors from early to late type...to reuse your old sensors, you need to replace the "O" ring that seals the sensor to the rim...

Hi, I just replaced my C5 thin spokes with aftermarket C5 chrome thin spokes, 18 x 9.5 front, 18 x 10.5 rear, Bobs House of wheels about 1000 shipped, Pirelli Pzero Corsa competition tires 18/30/285 front and 18/30/315 rear $764 shipped to ohio from tire rack .com, that gives me a rear to front slope of .70 of an inch so far no problem with active handling. Bob will give you 550 for your GM polished wheels I am still trying to sell mine. I can not speak to handling yet but drag racing the tires stick like glue no spin in my A4 3.15 rearend thats running about a 1.930 60 foot with no perceivable spin
