My 00 hardtop did not come with the underhood light option but did have the 2 pin harness for it on the radiator shroud.Has anyone added the rest of the harness and light?I did and tested the voltage at the new end of the connector where it plugs into the light and get 12v. If I ground and test each side ,should I be getting 12v on each pin?So the light itself grounds when I open the hood right. It does'nt seem all that complicated but it doesn't work yet either.
anyone who knows about this circuit PLEASE chime in.I can't stand it when somthing doesn't work right and can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.
I don't think you should get + on both leads, I could be missing something, but that shouldn't work!
The hood is plastic, so it can't pull the ground from the hood, the mercury switch is not a ground, it would connect the + to the - in the harness to complete the circuit.
If you do have + and + on the harness then the mercury switch will just connect + to + which won't cause a current flow to light the bulb.
thats what i was troubled by.One of the wires should be ground I thought unless its an loop thats completed when the mercury switch falls to complete the circuit.
I need to get with some one who has a working light and see how it tests.Maybe theres a ground wire in there somewhere. My harness gets 12v. do you know what fuse its on.Convenience maybe?
well it was a fiasco but this ones done. the plug on the shroud had some bent prongs causing the wrong connection.Plugged it up and we have the silly light working now and alls well with the vette. Thanks for the input guys..
