I am ready to buy long tubes and off road x or h pipe, but want some input on who makes the best fitting, best performance system outhere, my car is slammed and am concerned about clearance, anyway any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Well I am not going to jump in here and tout what I own, if your car is "slammed" you will probably have to go with Stainless Works. All after market LT headers are low but the Stainless ones come down the least. I owned a set, you will be happy with the investment...

Good Luck,
I have to agree with Scott. His Stainless Works headers were the tightest I've seen to date. The Kooks were a close second.

I am not forming an opinion as to which headers are the best, etc...but I have the StainlessWorks and a lowered car and I have no problems with clearance.
(Andy's rocker rails and frame savers help too.) [plug]

LG Pro Long Tube Headers are on sale now for $1395
That includes the complete system from the engine to the connection at the mufflers. It is all 304 Stainless steel and it is a full 3" system. They also include the race style Merge collector that we have used on all of our race cars.
But when you compare the complete system to any other header with a Complete system, and add the Merge collector, and also the fact that no other system is a full 3" stainless system there is no other choice.
But then I am biased.
Call and mention the sale price and the sales people will varify that price with me. Add $399 for full 3" Random Tech Metal Matrix Cats. these cats are the best available to date.
Thanks
Lou Gigliotti
The photo below shows exactly what you get, (off road version shown)

Good Luck,
, My stainless works long tubes fit very snug, coupled with slip joints to the center and backend sections (note sig below), all is very tight and I have no clearance problems on my stock bolt lowered '04.
After a year of thought, I FINALLY ordered a set of the LG Pro long tube headers to replace my TPIS. However, this time, no cats, no O2's, and I'm getting the headers Jet Hot coated. Looking forward to receiving them & can post dyno #'s, as I have a baseline with the TPIS.
The only difference will be no cats. People say that losing them is worth 5-10 HP. I am hoping your setup will provide me more of a gain than that. We will see.. Thanks again,
Ellis
Every long-tube header ever made is definitely the BEST... according to someone. From what I can tell, following many threads for some time, is that though one side of a given brand may install a bit easier than another brand, they all work about the same once in place.
Look at all of them, read the threads (many here), make a choice, and go with it--never looking back.
I went back and forth for months on this issue. I have did alot of research and can't seem to find much difference in all of the leading long tubes.
My three top choices: I also believe they are all within a hp or two so really comes down to construction, fit, and customer service.
1 - Stainless Works
2 - Kooks
3 - LG Headers
I decided to go with Stainless Works because they came highly recommended by so many people and I have never seen one negative post about them. (I am sure one exist somewhere but I have not seen it). Like Kooks, SW makes all types of headers and build some of the best in the industry. First class materials and service.
Kooks scared me away because of fitment and the LGs scared me away do to the price. I also didn't like that fact that I still needed 02 sensors or tuning even with cats for the LGs. So that added another $100 to the price.
Dynotech seems to be another alternative and comes as complete package for $1300. Several vendors have specials on them at moment.
There is a GREAT post on Z06vette.com that compares different headers and I found it a good read.
FLPs? I like em cause you can drop them from the top! Well mostly... All I can see about this thread is that pretty much all LT's are pretty good and preformance #s are pretty close to each other.

Where are the Tri-Y types like Belanger? I know at least some people prefer them for the street, but they rarely get mentioned on CF. I was under the impression that they were very well made.
