Okay - I'm trying to help a buddy of mine. I tried using the search function, and of course, it produced nothing.
Car is a 2000 coupe. Only got the second key fob (first is being located by the original owner). Just had the battery replaced in the fob. Did the resync. exercise, no joy. Did the DIC excercise to train the new fob - no joy. Checked to see that the battery is installed correctly - it is. What am I missing?
The 2000 vettes didn't have the passive/active crap did they? Something ain't right here - and the owner's manual is for the guy's other car - a 99 FRC - so I can't find anything specific to the 00.
when you did the resync, did you have the key in the ignition, and switched to on (without starting the car)?
The key should be in the ignition and on.
Hold the key fob within one foot of the dashboard while depressing both lock and unlock at the same time, and after approximately 30 - 45 seconds the horn will honk signifying a resync of the key fob.
If it is a brand new keyfob (new to your car), the training procedure must be completed prior to the resync.

Well - the fob is on the same ring as the key. I didn't have the key on for the resync, but I did have it on for the training procedure. It is supposedly the correct fob for the car, just had a dead battery. I'll try waiting longer and having the key in the run position for the resync procedure, but as best as I can figure, I did the training procedure correctly - maybe I should just wait longer with the lck/unlck buttons pressed?
Sometimes the only cure is to replace the remote. It's just wear & tear, being dropped and etc.
You can find them on ebay or in the Parts For Sale on this forum.
EDIT:
I believe the part # for that remote should be GM 10432147.

I guess it could be broken, but this is the one that got left in the drawer - you know - looks like brand new? I'm doubting it is broken. I tested the battery - 3V just like it should be. This is very perplexing! The car doesn't honk its horn or acknowledge the remote in any way.
I'm having the same problem, replaced batteries , bought another remote, wouldn't learn. Someone thought it is the master station, I don't know. Taking it in for service Tues, good luck Jim.

Hey Jim,
If you could please post your results in this thread once you've got it back from the dealership, that would be aces!! Really appreciate the help!! Hope it isn't an expensive fix.
Went to GM - tested the fob - it works fine - checked the part no. - its for an 01 aurora/bonneville/cutlass - not an 00 corvette. Time to contact the previous owner and ask him if he wants his aurora key fob back!
