Hey just would like to introuce myself. My name is James Stephens and I just moved to shreveport Louisianna. I just traded my 94 SS camaro for an 86 Corvette coupe with the 4 +3 tranny so that i could get a boat as well. I will post pics up and more personal stuff tommorrow as for a few questions I have... " and I did use the search feature "

1. My coolant temp is around 220 and Oil is 250 what are the DANGER levels for both as these are in the higher range.

2. WHen going into first or engaging the O.D. in fourth the car feels like its shaking and I can't figure out if its the rear end or cluth i know it isn't the engine because it revs fine rright after i puch the clutch in.

3. My drivers side door lock doesn't work with the key but does with the electric locks if i use if from the passengers side anyone know how to get that door off and what to watch out for.

4. any advice or inputs would be appreciated.

THanks again guys and i look forward to being an active member on the forum.

-James

Hey James

Welcome to the Forum and welcome to Corvette World.

The coolent temp is running a bit high, maybe need to take a high pressure air hose and blow the dirt and grass and what ever out of the radiator fins. Possible a coolent flush too.

250 on oil is not too bad. 260 is the number to watch. Many ppl run with temps well above 260 under hard running. Usuelly 260 is the magic number to keep oil temp under and when ppl put oil coolers on when running above that number.

as far as your tranny I dont know and I am sure other A4 ppl will chim in to help.

again welcome to the forum and dont for get to wave

Hi James, and welcome to the Corvette family.

The temps you noted sound "on the high side," but not dangerously so. You might get better answers by posting in C4 General. 1984 thru 1996 model years are C4 (4th generation); this is the C5 Tech section.

GL!
